1) Buy a Karaoke Machine
2) Practise, Practise, Practise
(make sure to recorc yourself using quality gear)
3) Record yourself (you never sound like you think you do)
4)Gather up your friends and go to a Karaoke bar
(EVERYONE sounds marvellous when your 3 sheets to the wind)
Who told you that you have perfect tone? I find that a strange comment to make. Look up dame Joan Sutherland or Maria Callas, they have perfect tone, but only after 20 or even 40 years of training and singing. How old are you?
A teacher can teach how to make music. Simply hitting the correct notes is NOT enough. You can be taught to expand your vocal range, to change your intonation, to correctly phrase musical lines.
Joining a choir would definitely be a good step.
Voice training can help a great deal. With singing, there are a lot of things untrained singers don’t know about their resonation, ways to sound better, etc. Even many trained singers have trouble and don’t fully understand these things. Your body is, in essence, a resonation chamber, and you have to shape many things, not only your mouth, to get a good sound. For instance, standing with incorrect posture blocks of resonation below the vocal folds and in the chest. A good teacher should be able to help you know how to stand and sing to get the best sound and pitch.
