Can anyone tell me about their experience with an under-sink dishwasher?

zmanphoto asked:

I am looking to put in an under-sing dishwasher for our apartment in NYC. I have never had one of these units but have seen them in a couple of apartments.

I’m looking for brand recommendations as well as overall pros/cons.
I have already Googled, Nextag’d, and epinion’d about this subject and what I have seen on the web are only GE under-the-sink dishwashers, but I have not actually been able to find a retailer who carries them. Although Lowes and Home Depot are supposed to have them, no actual store in NJ seems to have them in stock.

Needless to say, GE does not have much variety. White or bisque. So if you know of a brand, model #, retailer, or other specific info, I would appreciate it.

Frigidaire Precision Wash System - Ultra Quiet II Model. Wonderful machine. Has several features that are really nice. Some apartments have hot water difficulties. This model will pre-heat the water for the wash or the rinse cycle. This is great in cold and flu season because the washer brings the hot water up to 180 deg. to sanitize. If you are in a hurry and need some dishes it also had a heated drying setting which will dry the dishes in half the time. It is ultra quiet. You can have a normal conversation in the same room and hardly notice the washer is working. The last thing anyone wants is a tank rumbling through the kitchen every time you do the dishes. It is self cleaning. You can throw a peperoni pizza into it. Run the wash cycle, and when you are done there is nothing left but the peperoni. You don’t even have to rinse the plates. Nice.

For quality and selection, I recommend Whirlpool. there you can look at the many models that they offer and find a dealer near you! The whirlpool corp also produces the Jenn-Aire line. That is what I have. It is top shelf!
