Do any small pubs welcome amateur talent?

crabby teacher asked:

I am considering a trip and would like to bring my guitar or fiddle. I’m no pro, just enjoy playing and singing with others.

Most pubs would take you! Most pubs have a dedicated night each week to be ’session night’.. Find out what night that is and head in!

They are tolerant of it, but I strongly advise waiting to be invited to join a session, rather than plonking yourself down and just joining in. If you don’t know the trad music, ask questions rather than join in. Most musicians welcome a different style of music as a ‘break’ from the trad.
