I’m a songwriter; shall I have someone that sings much better than myself sing my songs for production on a CD?

No, because they are ur songs. and if you let somebody produce them on a cd, then people won’t think about the words they will only listen to the voice. Therefore the singer will get famous off songs that you wrote because some people don’t listen to the words they just listen to the voice. So, take credit for your songs and sing em’.

What are you trying to do? If you’re trying to get a deal as a songwriter then it doesn’t matter. The studio is looking to hear the vocal melody and the basic music around it. Someone else will be singing and playing it in the end so only the song quality is important. If you’re trying to form a band, then yes, a singer would be better. But then the singer will most likely want to write their own lyrics. If you’re doing it for yourself then it doesn’t matter.

Sure let others sing your song but I would try first to sing it and if profits you then you have accomplished your goal. If someone else has the voice that needs to blend to your songs, then someone else should. You’ll get royalties for the song if it is published and copyrighted. You have nothing to lose either way whether you sing your songs or if someone else sings them. Just be sure that your copyright is affective and your publishing information is accurate so that you will get credit for your songs.
By the way, I’m a songwriter also. I have songs that I know for a fact would sound better if someone else sang them but I also have some that I must sing because they were given for me to sing… Make sense? I hope this helps.
