Does imovie HD on a Mac book pro let you record only sound and not a movie?

I want to record my voice (singing), but Im not sure how to use my mac book pro in doing so… If imovie doesn’t work does anybody know a program that will?

You could use iMovie and extract the audio and delete the video, but Garage Band would be easier. It’s an audio editing program that comes standard with iLife. It’s the icon in the dock that looks like a guitar, or if it’s not in your dock, it’s in the applications folder.
Garageband is what you need to use for audio recording.

You can record yourself singing with a DV cam or iSight in iMovie and import the instrumental audio from GarageBand to make a proper music video
